So great to sail with all those little gaffers through Friesland and proud we were chosen as "pride of the fleet 2023"

After the Dorestad Raid I made some water colour paintings of the other participants.

Sailing the Dorestad Raid 2024

This year we sailed from Deventer down the River IJssel to  Zwolle and then towards Friesland. There were more than 40 small sailing boats participating  escorted by two motherships.

No wind in the 'Weerribben'.  Pulling the boat by hand!

Lunch break at 'Kalenberg'.

It was just a lovely week.

Sailing in the Limfjord, July 2025

This year we went to Denmark with our Ilur and sailed together with Hubert and Klarie in their "Hatseflats". We had weather changing from very hot and no wind, to cold and lots of wind and rain. We started out at Struer Havn and finished our trip in Thisted. A bit earlier than we had planned but the weather forecast for the rest of the week was bad so we decided to stop in Thisted. Also because there was a railroad connected to Struer and we would be able to collect our cars and Trailers to return home. During our trip we visited small islands an harbors and had some very nice meetings along the way. The Limfjord connects the West and the East coast in the Northern part of Denmark. It contains salt water since 1825 when the western shore line was broken by the North Sea.  The connected lakes were bigger than we expected and so it felt good we weren't alone on those big empty surfaces of water. It is a really beautiful sailing area and great nature. It is such fun seeing seals surfacing around our little boat while sailing there.

In the video below there is a small impression of our own 9 day trip.

Hubert made a nice blog about our trip! https://www.hubertbakkerautomatisering.nl/hubert/hatseflats_sailing/20250717.html
